Adrian is a graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in government, specializing in maritime policy. Throughout his four years of service with the USCG, he continued to expand on his passion for the sea and maritime affairs, which developed in part thanks to his upbringing in Costa Rica, a country regarded for its profound concern for environmental conservation.
During his years of service, Adrian was able to participate in multiple fisheries patrols and inspections while based out of Coast Guard Station New Haven, developing a keen interest in IUU fishing and the impacts of plastic pollution in fish stocks. His capstone project at the Coast Guard Academy focused on a series of proposals to improve the coastal resilience of the island nation of Tuvalu, facing a threat to its territorial security due to sea level rise.
Thanks to all these combined experiences, Adrian stoutly believes in the significance of conservation movements. He understands that the marine ecosystem is sacred for humanity and recognizes that only through positive cooperation between all sectors of society can we collectively secure the future of our oceans.

You can protect threatened ocean wildlife and their habitats with a monthly donation to For The Oceans. We are thrilled to have recently acquired our first sailing vessel dedicated to educating youth about ocean conservation as well as cleaning up plastic debris. Your support of our oceans is needed now to enable us to secure a second vessel to begin patrolling Costa Rican waters to stop illegal and unregulated fishing. PLEASE DONATE TODAY!
